Tower bridge

As a result of the panoramic penthouse views across London, we wanted to create a warm yet muted approach so as not to compete with the view over the city. A communal stair connects the 5th and 6th floors to act as a visual anchor to the long and narrow corridors. The stair performs as a way-finding strategy for the members to be drawn to the main spaces of the project. It was inspired by Alvaro Aalto’s stair in Villa Mairea with wood fins that vary in height, decrease in frequency and allow for transparent plexiglass panels with an applied gradient film to let light seep through the fins of the stair.
